Bio

Hi, I’m Brian! I’m a software engineer based in San Francisco with over 14 years of professional experience building applications for the web. I love working on the front end to create delightful and scalable user experiences. But I have always worked across the entire stack to get things done.

Most recently, I was Technical Lead at Twilio, leading the teams who built the web content management system. The CMS was a heavily customized version of Wagtail/Django and provided a standardized way for teams across the company to rapidly develop and deploy websites. Some key features I rolled out included hosting infrastructure abstraction, design system-based page construction, localization and automatic content translation, and empowering non-technical users to create and manage content. I spent my time mentoring engineers on the team, setting technical direction, planning and designing the highest priority platform features, and partnering with vendors and other groups who relied on the system.

Before Twilio, I consulted for two years, working with non-profits and small businesses building web applications. Before that, I worked for various user experience design agencies building products for clients, including Facebook, Google, Allstate, and Sears.
